Mogadishu’s Peace Is Al-Qaeda’s Defeat in Somalia

Halkaan ka akhri

As the people of Mogadishu and Southern Somalia begin rebuilding schools, hospitals, roads and vital infrastructure with the generous help of Turkey, the Al-Qaeda terrorists have officially declared a merciless campaign of mass murder and destruction.

On February 9, the defeated Al-Shabaab criminals headed by the war criminal Mukhtar Godane pledged total obedience to AlQaeda master Ayman Al-Zawahiri. Before the announcement, he Al-Shabaab criminals cowardly bombed and killed dozens of civilians outside of the Muna hotel in Mogadishu. The overriding reason why the Al-Shabaab criminals have fully joined AlQaeda network is the shared hatred for the people of Mogadishu.

The Al-Shabaab after being rejected by the people Mogadishu does not want any peace and reconstruction from taking place. Both militarily and political Mogadishu’s peace is Al-Shabaab and Al-Qaeda’s greatest failure and utter defeat.

Out of sheer desperation, the Al-Shabaab gang earnestly hope AlQaeda will provide much-needed funds to intensify terror campaign to destabilize Mogadishu.

The top Al-Shabaab henchmen Godane, Fuad Shangole and Mukhtar Robow are not from Mogadishu clans. This is an important and critical factor in the logic of the criminal Al-Shabaab’s overall war in Southern Somalia. The Al-Shabaab criminals exclusively commit widespread atrocities inside Mogadishu and Southern Somalia. They do not target AMISOM or Ethiopian forces, but have massacred innocent Mogadishu people.

Indeed, the Al-Shabaab criminals have consistently hidden their faces in public. Despite claiming to be fighting a “Jihad” or Holy War, the Al-Shabaab does not want the world to see their true identity.

Without the mask of “Alshabaab” the troika of Godane, Shangole and Robow could not function. With dare to commit clannish bombings in Mogadishu. The only reason why Al-Shabaab criminals conceal their identity is to hide the clannish terror war against predominantly the clans of Mogadishu!

Evidence clearly shows the only organized task for which Al-Shabaab has been determined to accomplish since 2008 is the destruction of Mogadishu and its people!  A simple list of notorious attacks will suffice:

December 3, 2009 bombing of Banadir University graduation ceremony, killing 22 medical students.

2009 to 2010 Al-Shabaab campaign of targeted assassination of over a 100 businessmen, doctors, military officers, politicians, and religious scholars from Ayr clan in Mogadishu.  It was Al-Shabaab’s brutal campaign of assassinations against Ayr clan that resulted in the creation of the Ahlu Sunnah Waljama (ASWJ) armed movement in Somalia.

October 4, 2011 cowardly car bombing that killed 70 Mogadishu students who had won scholarships to study at Turkish universities.

January 30, 2012 Al-Shabaab assassination of Shabelle Media director Hassan Abdi Osman in front of his family.

February 8, 2012 bombing of the Muna hotel that claimed the lives of 11 innocent civilians and injured many more.

The ongoing targeted killing of humanitarian workers in Galguduud region.

The assassination of numerous respected Hiran clan elders, prominent being Omar Hashi Aden in 2009.

Ongoing mass looting and arson attacks against businesses and properties in Ceelasha Biyaha Township.

The attempts to murder the chairman of the Hawiye Elders Council Ahmed Diriye.

February 27 the land mine attack killing five civilians in Wardhigley district, Mogadishu.

In 2012, it is utterly shameful that foreign Al-Qaeda and Al-Shabaab criminals Godane, Shangole and Robow could butcher hundreds of civilians, doctors, religious leaders, and journalists with impunity inside Mogadishu city.  While the AMISOM occupiers are equally responsible for outrageous war crimes against Mogadishu civilians since 2007, it is the AlQaeda-controlled Al-Shabaab criminals who are now fully determined to continue the bloodbath against the people.  However, AlQaeda might be determined to kill as much women and children, yet it will never defeat the people of Mogadishu or peace!
