Somalia’s Al-shabab militia group has ordered the residents of Kismayo district to pay ten US dollars as a monthly collection fee which will be paid by each family.
Somalia’s Al-shabab militia group has ordered the residents of Kismayo district to pay ten US dollars as a monthly collection fee which will be paid by each family.
The militia group made the new announcement in a press release they have sent today to different media houses and news rooms. The militias described the money as ‘tax’ which the local citizens will pay on month basis.
Those who will fail to pay the money to the militia group in time have been warned in the press release that an action will be taken against them.
Al-shabab’s second in command official in Kismayo, Abdirahman Abu Hamza has said that they have also concluded what he described as “a census” in Kismayo which would help them in collecting the money.
Al-shabab militia group which is fighting the Somali Transitional Federal Government has recently started exploiting the civilians in areas they control. The militia is said to be running out of funds after the International Community ensured that they do not receive funds from abroad
