Beledweyn — Unidentified gunmen have attacked explosions to one of Save the children organization official’s house in Beledweyn town in central Somalia, injuring three people including his wife, witnesses told Shabelle radio on Wednesday.

Locals say that the armed men attacked hand grenade explosions to the house of Ali Bile, an official of Save the children organization and wounded the wife the official, his daughter and one of his relatives who was in the house as the assault came.

Sources say that one of the injured people is in a critical condition and rushed to the main hospital in Beledweyn town in Hiran region.

Reports from the town say that there was no casualty that reached the official from the explosion assault and it is unclear why the armed group attacked the official’s house in Beledweyn town.

No comment has so far come from the Islamic Courts Union administration in Beledweyn town about whom they think was behind the explosion attack targeted to the Save the children organization official in the town.

The explosion attack is part of several other assaults against the aid workers and the prominent people in south and central Somalia and it is not the first time that unidentified gunmen attack officials in Beledweyn town.
