The Somali Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein has urged the United Nations to deploy its peacekeepers in the country as soon as possible.

“The UN and international community must provide financial support and deploy peacekeepers without delay so that Ethiopian forces would withdraw in accordance with the agreement,” Hussein said in a news conference in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The premier maintained that “Somalis in this time need the Ethiopians to leave the country and go back to Ethiopia,” Press TV correspondent reported.

According to a June 9 deal struck between rival groups in Somalia, Ethiopian forces should leave the country within 120 days, provided “sufficient” UN troops are deployed.

The prime minister also condemned the killing of the Somali head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Osman Ali Ahmed, in Mogadishu.

“The Somali government will hunt the killers …these people don’t know the value of human life,” he added.
